In 2018, I was part of a team that curated and installed the temporary exhibition “Summers at Point Ellice House” for the BC provincial heritage site, Point Ellice House, a 19th century house museum. I was responsible for selecting relevant artifacts from the collection, researching the history of the gardens, selecting appropriate quotes from the family diaries, and writing the extended labels.
As part of HISTORY HI9807B – Introduction to Museology, I worked in a team of four to prepare an exhibit brief, text panels and installation manual for a proposed exhibit in one of their window display cases.
In partnership with the Vision Soho Alliance, a low income housing conglomerate and the City of London, this year’s public history MA students are finishing a three year project by creating outdoor exhibit signs relating to the history of the SoHo neighbourhood.
I was responsible for project management for my team, on the history of the Indigenous and Black communities. In addition, I was responsible for the text and photo selection of the Black history sign. The goal of which was to summarize the history of the Black SoHo community while creating a sense of community for the new residents.
My content will go to a professional designer and signs are slated for installation in 2025.
